Climate is now a product variable, not a footnote

The conditions a vehicle meets on the road act directly on its hardware. Heat and cold degrade batteries and cut EV range. Dust abrades intake paths and moving parts. Ozone cracks rubber and elastomers. Humidity, road salt, and coastal air drive corrosion. Engineering and aftersales teams are being asked to account for all of it, on top of performance.

Allegra Airways demonstrates environmental routing intelligence at scale

Sanofi needed a way to make Allegra's health positioning tangible in New York City, where air quality and allergen exposure were visibly shaping daily life, especially after experiencing its worst wildfire smoke event on record.

That's when the brand integrated Ambee's real-time pollen and air quality APIs into a navigation interface that scored and ranked walking and cycling routes by environmental exposure.
Routes were displayed with live AQI and pollen overlays, giving users the ability to select the cleanest path from point A to point B rather than the fastest one.

Climate phenomena like wildfires have made air quality issues literally visible, especially in New York City. But what’s less widely known is the connection between air pollution and pollen, and how air quality affects allergy symptoms.
