Born from a personal health mission

In 2017, Madhusudhan Anand (Maddy), Ambee's co-founder and CTO, moved his family to a new neighborhood. Not long after, his infant son began struggling to breathe. Doctors had no explanation, and government reports on air quality showed normal levels.

As a lifelong experimenter, Maddy built his own air quality sensor and discovered that the actual air quality around his home exceeded acceptable levels by almost 60%. The nearest government monitoring station was miles away, vastly underreporting conditions and putting millions of people at risk. Maddy took action, and his son made a full recovery, and in doing so, Ambee was born.

Ambee originally started as a hardware company, building and deploying sensors and harvesting street-level data that simply did not exist before.

With proprietary hardware and hyperlocal data, Ambee began testing against existing sources and proved the gap between official readings and ground-level reality was significant, consistent, and consequential. The first APIs followed. Air quality. Then pollen. Each one opened a category of intelligence that leading global organisations had no other way to access.

As the datasets grew, so did the scope. Wildfire. Natural disasters. Flu risk. Each addition followed the same founding logic: climate affects everything, and properly collocated data had always been the missing variable.

The world's most demanding organisations took notice. Fortune 500 companies and household names in pharma, consumer health, and media chose Ambee.

After the foundational datasets were established, Ambee began building products on top of them. ClimaChain became the first climate-driven demand forecasting product of its kind, now delivering predictions and insights to some of the biggest names in global pharma and consumer health.
